B.R. Stateham will be sixty-nine years old in May. Supposedly, people creeping up to that age are thinking about retiring. But for B.R. it's not going to happen. As a nine year old kid he wrote his first novel on lined paper, using lots and lots of pencils and their erasers. At 20 he sold his first novel to DAW Science-Fiction, and thought at the time he was about to journey on a long career being a middle of the road Sci-Fi writer. Ah, but the finicky gods had other plans. Over the years he has delved into self-publishing novels and collections of short stories. Currently he has hardcore dark noir novellas out with up-and-coming Indie houses such as Fahrenheit13 and Near To The Knuckle. He's also found a home with Britain's Endeavour Press, a dynamic new name in the ebook publishing field, with the re-release of his Turner Hahn/Frank Morales police-detective novels. Endeavour is also publishing his new series, featuring a 1st Century Roman detective by the name of Decimus Julius Virilis.
The writing game is nothing but an odds-very-much-stacked-against-you throw of the dice. But B.R. Stateham has no plans in throwing in the towel and walking away.
