Chattel slavery and colonization had a brutal impact on the lives of African/black people. Tens of millions of African people, who brutally subjugated, tortured, raped and massacred throughout its nearly 250-year period of existence. Institutionally racist and white supremacist systems of oppression did not only destroy lives, it had a devastating impact psychologically and culturally. Unfortunately, the impact can still be seen and felt today. Many African/black people have even bought into the lies and stereotypes falsely constructed by the oppressors. Join us this episode for an incredibly important dialogue that will deconstruct many of the social offspring of chattel slavery and colonization, and how we have been trained not to see them for what they are, thus preventing us from rejecting them on a collective scale. Once again, African/black students will be joining us in studio to help facilitate this discussion. Tune in!!
