Wednesday September 21, 2011 represents another reprehensible chapter in America’s long history of injustice, institutional racism, and state sponsored murder. Despite overwhelming evidence and reasonable doubt, the state of Georgia, along with the support of Washington, murdered Troy Anthony Davis at approximately 11:08 PM (EST). America can illegally orchestrate wars and bombings that kill untold numbers of innocent civilians in places like Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, however it is a country that is heartlessly unwilling to step in to save the life of a young man from an unjust execution.
If America’s system and culture of injustice is not radically changed; there will, unfortunately, be many more Troy Davis-like situations. This reprehensible system must be changed---there simply is no other alternative if we wish to see an end to legal lynchings in America. We must let Troy Davis’ courage and strength serve as inspiration to continue to fight, year in and year out, to change America’s injustice system.
