Free the Scott Sisters (Political Prisoners)

Chokwe Lumumba will shed an illuminating light on this case; the specifics detailing this miscarriage of “justice” as well as how we call can support the Scott Sisters’ quest for justice and freedom!Jamie and Gladys Scott have been incarcerated in Mississippi for a crime they did not commit for the last 15 years. These two sisters were convicted of taking $11.00 from two 30 plus year old men in Scott County, MS. The alleged victims admitted that Jamie and Gladys did not rob them. Three teenagers robbed the victims of $11.00. The teenagers were arrested and confessed. They initially admitted that Jamie and Gladys had nothing to do with the offense. The County Sheriff’s office interrogated the teenage boys and told them if they did not implicate Jamie and Gladys as being involved in the planning of the robbery, they (the teenagers) would be sent to prison and “turned into females”. Under pressure from the Scott County officials the teenagers alleged the Scott Sisters were involved in planning the robbery. The Scott Sisters went to trial and were convicted and sentenced to two life sentences by a Scott County jury. Neither of the sisters had a criminal record and no one was hurt in the robbery. The accusations against the sisters arise from a history of conflict between the Scott Sisters father, their uncle and the Scott County officials. The jury verdict was a consequence of an unfair trial and apparent jury intimidation. Jamie Scott has now lost both of her kidneys. She needs a kidney transplant. The Mississippi Department of Corrections refuses to allow her a transplant. The press has also been prevented from interviewing Jamie and Gladys by the MDOC. Both Scott Sisters have children who have been denied the presence of their mother for the last 15 years.
