My name is Marvin Walters: The lack of awards for the movie Selma made me realize that racism has become unhidden in the motion picture industry and is doing well. I along with Jade David filed 32 EEOC Charges against the major motion picture studios in 1976 and won 5 Settlement Agreements in 1979: These Settlement Agreements changed the hiring practices for *minorities throughout the entire motion picture industry. *“If you were not related to, or a close friend to someone in the motion picture business you were a minority and your chances of getting into the business were very slim!” Following is the history of the two groups, which changed motion picture history.
Marvin Walters and Eddie Smith founded the Negro Stuntmen’s Association in 1967; the name changed to The Black Stuntmen’s Association in April 1968. Marvin Walters and Jadie David founded the Coalition of Black Stuntmen and Women in 1973
