Robert X The bible is confirming the fact that the creation of the stars, among other things, has a purpose for signs.  So if a fundamentalist comes up to you and says “You shouldn’t dabble in astronomy”, you can say “In the first page of the bible, the stars are for signs and if the stars are for signs, then don’t you think it’s a responsibility on our part to find out what those signs mean?”
