President Donald Trump has further empowered Special Counsel John Durham’s criminal investigation into the origins of the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into the 2016 Trump campaign, granting him the authority to use classified information indefinitely for the remainder of his investigation. A Virginia judge issued an opinion in which he stated that a black man who was being tried on charges of eluding police must not have his trial in one of the courtrooms used during the coronavirus pandemic because those larger courtrooms have numerous portraits of white people. The federal government filed suit against Walmart, accusing the retail chain of fueling the opioid epidemic in the United States by filling thousands of invalid prescriptions for the addictive painkillers. Senator Ted Cruz taking heed of Joe Biden’s public pronouncements indicating he would rejoin the Paris Agreement and rejoin the Iran nuclear deal, sent a letter to President Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that would head Biden off at the pass, asking Trump to submit the deals as treaties, thus forcing any such actions by Biden to be submitted to the Senate for approval.
