Remember the days when flying was a special occasion? People dressed up and you were offered a magazine or newspaper along with a cocktail, pillow and a blanket. To make the experience even more memorabe you were served a hot meal (chicken, steak or fish) and children were awarded with pilot/stewardess wings. Those were the good ole days!
Travel has morphed from an exciting adventure being served a hot meal by a glamorous STEWARDESS to a male or female FLIGHT ATTENDANT that in some cases has to deal with unruly, disrespectful customers. News flash everyone... your flight attenant is not on the airplane to just serve you beverages and a snack. Flight Attendants are the second most important safety feature on that aircraft, they are highly trained to administer life substaining medical procedures until professional help arrives. They are certified to evacuate an aircraft to save your life.
As stated in the Washington Post. " Fly With Me", is a new PBS film about the flight attendants who helped transform their industry- and society as a whole". This is history you need to see and is available on YouTube or check your local PBS schedule for rebroadcasting of " Fly With Me" it is a fantastic film!
Join Patricia Banks-Edmiston, the first commerical stewardess and one of the pioneers interviewed in "Fly With Me" co-directed by Sarah Colt and Helen Dobrowski.
Tune in to hear Patricia Banks-Edmiston express her thoughts about this incredible, informative and impressive documentary! A must see film.
