GAY PRIDE MONTH , " Lesbian,Gay,Bisexual,Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ)- Is celebrated each year in June to honor the1969 Stonewall uprising in Manhattan, the uprising was the tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States". Memorials are observed in many states during month to honor those that have lost their lives to hate crimes or HIV/AIDS, and to recognize the impact that the gay community has had on history nationally and internationally.
Title VII of he Civil Rights Act of 1964 which makes it illegal for employers to discriminate because of a persons sex or or orientation was upheld by the Supreme Courts in a landmark ruling on June 15, 202 which states that the federal sex discrimination protections extend to gay and transgender workers makes it clear that employees cannot be fired under federal law simply because of their gender identity or sexual orientation.
