I found out at the Labor Temple on Thursday night that a standing board member who does not face re-election is the treasurer or one of the higher posts on David Kirby's election committee. This is a conflict of interest. It is a conflict of interest because there is a lot of ingrained, concrete power struggles on the board with 5 dominant members and 2 outcasts. It is important that each candidate presents themselves with a fresh voice with no political allies that will stir up old rivalries. This topic will be discussed and also the bad decision by the local labor organization in Duluth to support a candidate with no background in blue collar labor.
