Our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy have changed. We think you'll like them better this way.
Private police in at least 27 states perform the same duties and take the same risks as public law enforcement officers but they are not recognized, honored or paid equally.
The National Law Enforcement Memorial Wall, which is a private entity, does not recognize private law enforcement and their criteria for inclusion on the wall needs to be changed!
The US Department of Justice administers a special program called the PSOB/Public Ssafety Officer Benefits program which is designed to give financial aid to the families of fallen public safety personnel including police, fire, medical responders, FEMA staff and others engaged in public safety duties but it does not recognize private or special police and therefore families of private police officers killed in the line of duty-get no benefits!
We need to change this now!
