In 1858, ABRAHAM LINCOLN once said, "I will say then, that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters of the Negroes, or jurors, or qualifying them to hold office, of having them to marry with white people." After the CIVIL WAR, during Reconstruction, AFRICAN-AMERICANS experienced a 12 year period in which the right to vote and hold office became a reality. Although afterwards, the South, with the help of the KKK, ushered in JIM CROW laws segregating BLACKS all the up until the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT forced INTEGRATION once again. In 2018 some BLACKS argue we were better off under SEGREGATION, because we owned are own businesses and educated ourselves. Others still think INTEGRATION was necessary for the progress of the AFRICAN-AMERICAN community. MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the question's AMERICA'S afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
