The Apostle Paul wrote an entire chapter in the Book of Corinthians about love.  There were several issues going on in the church. There was division over leadership, there was disorder in the body of Christ, there were different ideas about the resurrection and the coming of the Lord. Paul could have addressed each of these issues separately but instead He address the position of Love. Love is the essence of God, for God is Love.
