Congress has left the  nation's seniors and elderly with a potential national crisis.  Americans earned their  money by hard work and paid taxes and paid into the government retirement plan they believed was deposited into a Trust, but they were not trustworthy.  Americans paid into Social Security for 20-60 years only to discover that their retirement money was ripped off.  America's seniors and elderly are left with a barrel of IOU's. If Americans had invested in an  IRA that paid interest, they would have made a lot of extra money at retirement vs. the government retirement that pays no interest.
