Our Summer Encore Series continues with Amy Beth’s intriguing conversation with noted journalist Chris Tomlinson, author of the compelling  family history, Tomlinson Hill.  A fifth generation Texan, Chris is a descendant of slave owners. Since childhood, Chris has wondered what that legacy meant to him, his family and to the descendents of the people his ancestors had enslaved, who had taken the name Tomlinson after Emancipation.

Before joining the staff of the Houston Chronicle, Chris was a war correspondent for the Associated Press. He spent eleven years covering Africa, Iraq and Afghanistan. His experience led him to believe “in revealing the facts, no matter how dangerous… In the same spirit of exposing injustices and atrocities where I find them I don’t turn away from those I found within my own family history.”

And the usual hoopla: Free flow Pop Culture convoInspiration to Action shout-outs, humor, music and more!
